CEI: Trieste, ministerial meeting on research and innovation

Focusing on blue growth, education and scientific diplomacy

TRIESTE, DECEMBER 13 - The conference of ministers of research, innovation and higher education of the member states of the Central European Initiative (CEI) began this morning in Trieste, with a focus on "Regional scientific cooperation and technology in favor of the sustainable development of the CEI countries," organized by the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Education, University and Research, in collaboration with the CEI, whose rotating presidency is held by Italy.

Fifteen delegations coming from as many countries (Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro, Moldova, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine) are today in Trieste, where yesterday a networking evening took place, in the presence of the head of the Ministry of Education, Fioramonti.

This morning's meeting will focus on research, innovation and higher education as a means to address societal challenges through regional cooperation, promote sustainable economic growth, increase employment and social inclusion, and create new opportunities for young people in the CEI area. There will also be a focus on blue growth, capacity building, training, and scientific diplomacy. Particular attention will be paid to the issues of mitigation, prevention, and adaptation of natural risk, a press release reported, also thanks to the collaboration with the OGS. At the end of the plenary session, the Trieste Declaration on Science will be signed. (ANSA).
